We are commercially-minded. And we aim to leverage the highest quality litigation skills to help clients while using the law as a force for good. We operate with respect for people and the planet.
Our cases
Our lawyers are involved in ground-breaking legal cases.
Institutional investors v Steinhoff
We acted on behalf of institutional investors including the South African pension fund for civil servants, against Steinhoff, the South African retailer and listed company, which had for years misled shareholders about the company’s true financial position and withheld key information from the market. After several years of litigation, the case closed with a multi-billion dollar settlement.
Fossielvrij v KLM
We represented environmental campaign group Fossielvrij in its court case against KLM, in which it accused the airline of greenwashing. The case, the first of its kind, stated that KLM adverts and other marketing materials were irresponsible and misleading, a claim upheld by judges in March 2024.
The Privacy Collective v Oracle Salesforce
We acted for The Privacy Collective, a Dutch consumer privacy group, in a class action claim against tech giants Oracle and Salesforce, alleging that their involvement in placing third party cookies to help track and target internet users with adverts breaches privacy laws. This resulted in groundbreaking case law on the hurdles defendants try to make NGOs jump cross when bringing a class action under Dutch law.
Stichting Massaschade & Consument v TikTok (ongoing)
We acted for Stichting Massaschade & Consument in a privacy case against social media platform TikTok. The foundation is demanding that TikTok stops the illegal use of its 4.5 million Dutch users’ data and billions of euros in damages from TikTok for breaching privacy regulations.
Stichting Massaschade & Consument v Google and Android (ongoing)
We are representing Dutch claims foundation Massaschade & Consument in a class action case against Google, arguing that the Android technology on its smartphones is being used to collect information about users without their consent. The foundation plans to claim damages for duped Android users, of whom there are some nine million in the Netherlands.
